SWS: 31% of Filipinos say quality of life worse in past 12 months

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 14) — Around three out of 10 Filipinos believe their quality of life has worsened in the past 12 months, data from an independent pollster showed.

A survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) from June 26 to 29 revealed that 31 percent of Filipino adults think that their quality of life was worse than 12 months before.

The poll also found that 29 percent of the respondents said their quality of life improved while 39 percent said it remained the same.

This translated to a -2 Net Gainer score, classified as “fair” by the pollster — the same figure as in April 2022

“The steady national Net Gainer score between April 2022 and June 2022 was due to increases in Metro Manila and Luzon outside Metro Manila (or Balance Luzon), combined with decreases in the Mindanao and Visayas,” SWS said in its report.

It also noted that the figure is still 20 points below the pre-pandemic level of “very high” +18 recorded in December 2019.

The SWS conducted the survey among 1,500 adults, 300 each in Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and 600 in Balance Luzon.

The sampling error margins are ±2.5% for national percentages, ±5.7% each for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and ±4.0% for Balance Luzon, the pollster said.
