Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 5) — The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has planned programs to focus on four main activity clusters for the OFW Children’s Circle set to launch this month.
OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac said the four main clusters are arts and culture; sports and recreation; financial literacy and entrepreneurship; and good citizenship and spiritual formation or reorientation.
“Layunin natin is an activities-based endeavor na mag-aadress ng negatibong epekto ng pangingibang bayan ng isang mahal sa buhay ng isang batang OFW,” Cadac told CNN Philippines on Friday.
[Translation: Our aim is an activities-based endeavor that will address negative effects of an OFW child’s love one leaving the country.]
Programs under the arts and culture cluster could include theatre acting workshops, singing and acting competitions and stage plays.
Sports and recreation activities cover fun runs, aerobic and fitness activities, water sports, and yoga among others.
Activities lined up for the literacy and entrepreneurship cluster are seminars that will train children proper budgeting and how to start businesses.
The good citizenship and spiritual formation or reorientation cluster will include more seminars and workshops to discuss wellness, anti-drug abuse and civic duties.
OWWA Administrator Hans Cacdac said preliminary registration for the program which has P15-million in funding has already begun.
