Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 27)— The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) near Quezon.
In its weather forecast for Saturday, PAGASA said the weather system was last spotted over the coastal waters of Polillo, Quezon at 3 a.m.
The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Calabarzon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur, it added.
The state weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is affecting Mindanao.
The ITCZ, along with localized thunderstorms, is expected to cause rain over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
PAGASA cautioned severe thunderstorms may result in possible flash floods or landslides.
