Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 29) — Maine Mendoza on Friday announced her engagement to actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde.
Mendoza shared the news through photos she posted on her Twitter and Instagram pages.
“Wait, whaaaat??? We’re engaged?! 🤯,” she said.
More than 30 minutes after Mendoza’s announcement, Atayde also shared photos of the engagement on his Instagram page.
Based on his social media caption, Atayde proposed on Thursday, June 28.
“My turn, I will marry you cutie. ❤️ 07.28.22,” he said.
The romantic setting was a field of white flowers, with a mini stage and arch with the question, “Will you marry me?”
The two were together in a film in 2018 and have been in a relationship for more than three years.
Mendoza started her showbiz career in 2015 via Eat Bulaga where she portrayed the role of “Yaya Dub” who was lip syncing to songs, television and movie scenes, among others. She was then paired with actor Alden Richards, which immediately gained support from the public.
Atayde, meanwhile, recently joined politics and is currently the congressman of the first district of Quezon City. He has so far filed six bills, two of which are related to the movie and television industry.
