Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 17) — The city government of Cebu will double its efforts in vaccinating students in all levels ahead of the implementation of face-to-face classes in August.
This is in line with Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama’s instruction to the City Health Department, through the Vaccination Operations Center, to impose “a more extensive campaign” on COVID-19 vaccination and booster administration.
“Go double time in vaccinating our students in all levels, from nursery who are mostly five years old, through elementary, junior high, senior high and college, and in all public and private schools,” Rama said in a statement on Sunday.
“We need to be very prepared for our children to return to school, face to face,” he added.
Like Metro Manila, Cebu City remains under the loosest Alert Level 1 COVID-19 restriction after Malacañang announced on Saturday that the “status quo holds for our alert levels,” pending a review by the Inter-Agency Task Force on July 18.
The Department of Education (DepEd) said the full implementation of in-person classes will push through regardless of the alert level being implemented in an area.

Meanwhile, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who just finished isolation after his second bout with the virus, said the government will launch a large-scale booster campaign in preparation for the return of in-person classes.
