Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 3) – Rising Filipino mixed martial arts star Jenelyn Olsim has returned to the winning track after scoring a split decision win against Julie Mezabarba in ONE 158 on Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Team Lakay product improved her win-loss slate to 6-3, while her Brazilian foe dropped to a 9-4-1 record.
Throughout the contest, Olsim utilized her punches and some body strikes to stop any attempts by Mezabarba to ground her.
Olsim’s victory was a bounce back from her loss against Indian fighter Ritu Phogat in the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix semifinals in ONE: NEXTGEN II last November.
The 25-year-old MMA specialist also backed out from her fight against Malaysia’s Jihin Radzuan after she sustained an injury during sparring.
Olsim was also fresh from her bronze medal finish in the vovinam competition of the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam last month.
