
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 28) — An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolts Itbayat, Batanes on Tuesday night, state seismologists reported.
In an earthquake bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the tremor occurred at 9:43 p.m.
The quake is tectonic in origin, which means there was a movement in the Earth’s crust. It had a depth of 13 kilometers.
The agency said that though it may not have caused any damage, aftershocks are still expected.
