Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 11)— Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon has logged 178 volcanic earthquakes in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Saturday.
This is higher than the 149 tremors the agency reported the day before.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said the volcano also emitted 613 tons of sulfur dioxide. A 150 meter-high plume was also recorded.
Last week, Bulusan rumbled and spewed ash in a phreatic eruption, prompting Phivolcs to raise Alert Level 1 over the area.
Entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone and entry without vigilance into the Extended Danger Zone remain strictly prohibited.
