Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 5) — Vice President Leni Robredo’s spokesperson Atty. Barry Gutierrez said he will file a complaint affidavit on Friday against Journal News Online for allegedly publishing an article about him and Robredo that contains false statements.
The article claimed that Communists Party of the Philippines founder Joma Sison is advising Robredo and Gutierrez on the former’s presidential campaign — an allegation that Sison had denied.
“To all those on my case about filing a case: Will be filing a complaint affidavit tomorrow, May 6, 10:30 am, at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office against those responsible for a false news report against me and VP Leni,” said Gutierrez on Twitter on Thursday.
He mentioned the news outlet to reporters in a separate advisory.
