Habagat affects western Luzon, LPA seen east of Davao City

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 29) — The state weather bureau on Sunday said the southwest monsoon or habagat is affecting the western section of Luzon, while a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted almost 800 kilometers east of Davao City.

The bureau added that flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

PAGASA said the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Caraga, Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

Meanwhile, Palawan will continue to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

In its 4 p.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA, which was last seen at 790 kilometers east southeast of Davao City, has a small chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
