Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 17) – Filipino billiards star Rubilen Amit continues her reign as the region’s queen in the women’s 9-ball pool singles event.
Amit defeated Singapore’s Tan Hui Ming, 7-2, in the finals to rule the event in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday at the Ha Dong Gymnasium in Vietnam.
The 40-year-old Cebuana pool sensation cruised to an early 3-0 lead, before Ming got her rhythm and won the next two racks.
After the fifth game, Amit never looked back as she displayed her pool brilliance in the next four racks to take home her sixth SEA Games gold medal in her career.
Amit beat Singapore’s Zeet Huey Charlene Chai in the quarterfinals and hometown bet Xuan Vang Bui in the semifinals en route to her golden finish.
Meanwhile, Filipino bet Jefrey Roda took the silver medal in the men’s snooker 6-red singles event after he lost to Malaysia’s Kok Leong Lim in the finals, 5-3.
