Robredo to hold thanksgiving events despite result of unofficial count

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 10) — Vice President Leni Robredo will hold two gatherings this week for her volunteers and supporters despite her grim standing in the presidential race based on the Commission on Elections’ nearly complete, unofficial count.

A thanksgiving mass will be held in Naga City on Tuesday afternoon at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral.

She said she will hold a thanksgiving gathering in Metro Manila on May 13, adding she understands that her supporters are still grappling to understand the turnout of election day.

“Dalangin ko ang kapanatagan ng loob at linaw ng kinabukasan para sa ating lahat,” she said in a statement.

Robredo’s archrival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is poised for a landslide win as the Philippines’ next president, based on partial, unofficial tally of the Comelec. Data from the Comelec’s transparency server shows that the son and namesake of ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos garnered 30,893,902 votes compared to the 14,736,323 votes of Robredo, with 97.51% of votes transmitted to Comelec’s transparency server.

The vice president also said her camp is reaching out to experts to look into allegations of election irregularities posted on social media.
