Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 9) — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that 61 public utility drivers, conductors, dispatchers and other transport workers have tested positive for illegal drug use ahead of Holy Week.
In a statement on Saturday, PDEA said it screened 4,210 people during its “Oplan Harabas” on Friday in major bus, jeepney, tricycle and public utility vehicle terminals nationwide.
Those who tested positive for shabu or meth and marijuana use were 27 tricycle drivers, ten jeepney drivers, 11 bus drivers, seven van drivers, five conductors, and a dispatcher, PDEA added.
The drivers who failed the drug tests will be barred from travel and have their licenses confiscated while they undergo interventions and reformation programs, the agency said.
