
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 6) – Perpetual Help Altas imposed their dominant presence against the Arellano University Chiefs, 87-70, in NCAA Season 97 on Wednesday at the La Salle Greenhills Gym.
Jeff Egan had a breakout game for the Altas with 29 points and four rebounds, while Jielo Razon added 14 markers and four boards to improve their slate to 2-2.
Perpetual had a big edge in shooting with 43.9%, compared to Arellano’s 34.2% field goal clip. The Altas also built their solid game from dominant showing in rebounds (64-41) and assists (21-6).
The Altas big offensive game started in the second quarter after stretching their lead to 16 points, courtesy of the hot shooting Egan.
The scoring onslaught by Perpetual went into greater heights in the second half as their advantage ballooned to 28 points, thanks to their suffocating defense while maintaining their smart offensive game.
Kim Aurin and Rey Barcuma also contributed big in the Altas scoring attack after churning out 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Perpetual frontcourt players Mark Omega and Nat Sevilla muscled their strength in the paint after grabbing 15 and 12 rebounds, respectively.
Arellano drew another double-double performance from reliable big man Justin Arana with 14 points and 12 rebounds, as the Chiefs dropped to a 1-3 record.
Perpetual looks to tally their first winning streak in the season against College of St. Benilde on Saturday noon, while Arellano hopes to end their two-game losing skid against the undefeated Mapua University on Sunday noon.
