Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 25) — Two weeks before the elections, presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo returned to vote-rich Nueva Ecija on Monday.
Robredo visited Muñoz, Cabanatuan, Cabiao, and Gapan.
In Muñoz, Robredo bagged the endorsement of outgoing Nueva Ecija 1st district Representative Estrellita Suansing.
“Buong pusong lumalaban, tumitindig, sinusuportahan (sa) pagkapangulo — (si) Leni Robredo. Sa araw at oras na ito, sa harap ng aking mga kababayan pormal kong ineendorso ang matalik kong kaibigan, Leni Robredo,” Suansing said.
[Translation: I’m whole heartedly fighting, standing, and supporting Leni Robredo for president. In this day and hour, in front of my constituents, I’m formally endorsing my close friend, Leni Robredo.]
Meanwhile, Robredo tried to convince supporters of the Suansings by narrating her journey from being an alternative lawyer to vice president.
Despite limited mandate and resources, she said her office was still able to bring projects in Nueva Ecija — for farmers, education, and health.
She vows to be a president who will go to the communities and will listen to them, no matter how far they are.
“Ang pangako ko, pag ako naging pangulo mas madalas nyo ako makikita. Di kayo mahihirapan na makatawag ng aking pansin dahil sa dalawang kasama ko (Ging and Mika Suansing). Konti man kayo pupuntahan para bisitahin at pakinggan kayo,” Robredo said.
[Translation: If I become president, you will see me most of the time. You will not have a hard time seeking my attention because of these two (Estrellita and Mikla Suansing). You may be few, but I will visit and listen to you.]
In 2016, Robredo lost to her rival former senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in the province by over 320,000 votes. More than 1.5 million votes are up for grabs in Nueva Ecija.
