Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 21) — Filipino race car driver Bianca Bustamante will have her first taste of a formula car race weekend before her much awaited W Series debut.
The 17-year-old Bustamante signed with the IGY6 Motorsports team as she competes in the USF Juniors Championship, a pre-test to the prestigious Road to Indy development racing program in the United States.
Bustamante will take part in four of the six race weekends of the USF Juniors tilt, starting with the inaugural leg of the 2022 season on April 23-24 at the Ozarks International Raceway in Missouri.
The Filipina racing wunderkind will also be participating in the next race weekends on April 28-29 at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 4-5 at the Virginia International Raceway, and on July 8-9 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
“It is important that I make the most of every opportunity behind the wheel, and to get my first-ever formula car race under my belt will definitely teach me a lot,” said Bustamante.
Bustamante took part in the USF Juniors Official Test last March.
Her USF Juniors worlds stint will commence two weeks before the first race of the W Series 2022 season on May 6-8 in Miami, Florida, coinciding with Formula One’s inaugural grand prix in South Beach.
The W Series is the all-female support race to F1, where Bustamante will compete in a Formula 3 car under the W Series Academy Team.
