Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 1) – The Creamline Cool Smashers stepped closer to a finals berth in the 2022 PVL Open Conference after prevailing in four sets in Game 1 of their semifinals battle with the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19, 25-11, Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Tots Carlos paced the solid offensive effort of Creamline with 26 points – including 21 from attacks. Alyssa Valdez also had a remarkable outing with 17 markers.

The Cool Smashers unleashed their attacking prowess in the first set, but struggled to continue their momentum in the second set after the Flying Titans got their own rhythm in the attacks.

Creamline regained their composure in the third set as they stepped up their offense with more attacks from all zones, backed by the floor defense that rattled the set plays of Choco Mucho.

The Sherwin Meneses-coached Cool Smashers ran away in the fourth set with their dominating attacks that left the Flying Titans searching for answers on the court.

Kat Tolentino was the only standout in the Choco Mucho side after finishing with 13 points.

Creamline can finish their best-of-three semifinal series against Choco Mucho on Sunday.
