Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 31) — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has unveiled a wax figure of herself at Madame Tussauds Singapore, making her the first Filipino with a replica of herself in the museum.
“I’m so honored and flattered to be the only Filipino wax figure here in MT Singapore!” Gray said in an Instagram post on Wednesday, where she can be seen posing alongside her wax lookalike wearing a replica of her iconic lava red gown from the pageant.
“Also for those that are curious! @maktumang created an ah-mazing replica lava gown! The small differences on the neck line are to hide the seams’ where the head of the wax figure fit onto the body!” Gray said of Filipino designer Mak Tumang’s creation. “The lava gowns mesh base presented a challenge but Mak masterfully worked around these!”
She also said that the wax figure’s pose was based on her “final walk” at the pageant.
“Also, as the only Filipino in MT Singapore, it brings me so much pride to have the PHILIPPINES sash front and center,” the beauty queen added.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach also has a wax figure of herself displayed at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.
The piece shows Wurtzbach donning a replica of her blue Michael Cinco-designed gown.
