Govt eyes inoculating 6M on third nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 8) — The government is eyeing to inoculate six million individuals on the third nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive set for Feb. 10 to 11.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. on Monday said the government aims to administer primary doses to 4 million individuals and booster shots to 2 million people on the third wave of ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan’. This will cover ages 12 and above. Senior citizens, indigent population, and individuals in economic zones will be given priority.

Galvez also said the government will push for the administration of booster shots to provide additional layer of protection to fully vaccinated individuals.

So far, over 59 million Filipinos are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The government aims to increase this to 70 million in March and 90 million in June when President Rodrigo Duterte’s term ends.
