“Identified na po ang gumamit ng TikTok,” he said in a media briefing. “Tuloy-tuloy ang kaniyang digital trail at eventual identification. After that magsampa ng kaso, issue ng warrant of arrest, then the tracker team gets the person responsible for this kind of threat.”

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 7) — The Philippine National Police has identified the TikTok user who allegedly plotted to assassinate presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., PNP chief Dionardo Carlos announced on Monday.

He did not bare the name of the person who posted a comment on the video-sharing app threatening Marcos of assassination, but he explained PNP’s next steps.

The Marcos camp said Charito Zamora, officer-in-chief of the Department of Justice’s cybercrime group, has requested TikTok to “preserve the data related to the subject account while the Philippine authorities are working on the legal process for its disclosure.” TikTok’s Law Enforcement Outreach is also working on the request.

According to Zamora, the comment from an account with the username @joiedevivre420 read: “Nagmemeeting kami araw araw para paghandaang ipa aasasinate naming si BBM humanda kayo.”

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said the National Bureau of Investigation would “give priority attention” to any validated information pertaining to a threat to the personal security of any presidential aspirant.
