
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 16) — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed two new commissioners to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
In a statement, CHED Chairman Prospera De Vera said the appointment papers of Jo Mark Libre and Marita Canapi were signed on Feb. 9. They will serve until July 21, 2025.
“I now welcome our two new commissioners and I am confident that we all continue to learn and educate as one,” he added.
Libre was vice president for communications and external affairs at the Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc. in Davao City. He specializes in various fields, including political science, international politics, global governance, international relations, comparative politics and conflict resolution.
Canapi, meanwhile, was the second president of the University of Rizal System and served as vice president for academic affairs at the University of Makati. She was also vice president for academic affairs at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina.
The new officials are replacing outgoing Commissioners Perfecto Alibin and Lilian De Las Llagas, whose terms were supposed to end on July 21, 2021.
