Advincula to faithful: Emulate Jesus’ ability to love amid difficult times

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 24) — Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula on Christmas Eve called on the faithful to follow Jesus’ ability to love by helping the weak, poor, and helpless.

“We are urged to let him in the doors of our hearts [and] to enlist ourselves to be his disciples and follow his ways,” Advincula said in his homily at the Manila Cathedral.

“Today is not the end but just the beginning of the birth of Christ in our lives. [T]he work of Christmas begins,” he added.

Advincula asked Filipinos to be like Jesus, whose love in unconditional.

“The incarnation of Jesus should be understood as a divine training and instruction to liberate and activate the full human potential to love and to live temperately, justly, devoted, and eager to do what is good,” he said.

In the Catholic tradition, the Christmas season is celebrated annually from the birth of Jesus on Dec. 25 to the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God on Jan. 1.
