OCTA: NCR’s 7-day COVID-19 positivity rate down to 13.1%

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 22) – The seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) dropped to 13.1% as of Dec. 20, according to OCTA Research.

OCTA fellow Guido David tweeted on Thursday: “7-day positivity rate in the NCR decreased from 14.5% (Dec. 13) to 13.1% (Dec. 20). The reproduction number in the NCR decreased to 0.91.”

David also noted that “the 7-day average of new cases decreased from 447 to 404, a growth rate of -10%.”

The independent research group previously projected a decline in the number of COVID-19 cases despite the easing of restrictions during the holidays.

It earlier reported that the positivity rate had dropped from 14.4% on Dec. 10 to 13.9% on Dec. 17.

Meanwhile, the NCR continues to have the highest number of new COVID-19 infections, according to David. It logged 339 new cases on Dec. 21, he also said.

Trailing behind the NCR were Laguna at 46 new cases, Cavite, 40; Rizal, 35; and Bulacan, 24.

On Dec. 21, the Department of Health recorded a total of 823 new COVID-19 cases, 15 new deaths, and 1,188 new recoveries.
