
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 16) — The Philippine women’s football team ended the year with a bang after another dominant win against Papua New Guinea, 9-0, on Thursday.
The Filipinas crushed Papua New Guinea, a team ranked two spots above the Philippines in the world rankings, in their friendly rematch at the Western Sydney Wanderers Park in Australia.
The Pinay booters are currently ranked 53rd, the team’s highest FIFA world ranking.
Quinley Quezada spearheaded the Filipinas with her first career hat trick while Katrina found the back of the net at the 24th and 72nd minutes.
Sara Eggesvik delivered the opener while Jessika Coward and Tahnai Annis each struck a goal.
The Pinay players last Sunday first trounced Papua New Guinea, 5-1.
The win also wraps a historic year for the team which saw them clinch an unprecedented FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket, the AFF Women’s Championship title and a bronze finish in the Southeast Asian Games.
