Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 4) — Vic Rodriguez no longer holds a post in the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., his successor Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said Tuesday.
“He’s no longer a member of the Cabinet. You must recall that he resigned for a specific reason,” Bersamin said in an interview with reporters. “Take it as it [was] stated by the Secretary, and let us respect his privacy.”
Rodriguez — who was also Marcos’ former spokesperson — stepped down from his Cabinet post last month citing family reasons.
But he noted he would continue to serve as the presidential chief of staff, saying the newly-issued Administrative Order No. 1 created the position.
Bersamin, however, said he is not aware of such an order.
“To our knowledge wala eh (order),” Bersamin stressed. “Ang totoo niyan ay eh kung meron talaga, ililitaw natin kung meron. But up to now, wala pang lumilitaw na ganiyan.”
[Translation: To our knowledge, there is none (order). The truth is if there is such an order, we’ll present it. But up to now, we haven’t seen any.]
Bersamin, meanwhile, also issued an appeal to “not belabor the issue.”
“I was appointed as executive secretary, I was sworn into office and that should put that matter to rest,” he said.
Marcos has yet to issue a comment on the matter.
