Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 17) — Film and television director Paul Soriano has been appointed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. as his adviser for creative communications, Malacañang confirmed on Monday.
The Office of the President made the announcement the same day Soriano is set to take his oath as presidential adviser — and celebrates his 41st birthday.
Soriano directed Marcos’ first State of the Nation Address in July, as well as the latter’s presidential campaign commercials.
His dad is a cousin of the First Lady, Lisa Araneta-Marcos.
His wife, TV/movie actress and celebrity endorser Toni Gonzaga, is also a staunch supporter of the President. She hosted a number of events for the Marcos camp during the election period and sang the national anthem during his June 30 inauguration ceremony.
It was earlier reported that Soriano was among the candidates for the position of Press Secretary, but he said in an ABS-CBN interview that he believes there are people more qualified for the role.
