Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 15)— The Philippines’ “Inasal na manok” was ranked as one of the best chicken dishes in the world, according to a recently-published list of an international travel website.
The popular grilled chicken dish — which originated in Bacolod — landed in the fifth spot of TasteAtlas’ Top 50 cuisines for October.
It received a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars.
TasteAtlas described Inasal as a “unique” dish of chicken cuts marinated in vinegar and spices.
“During grilling, the meat is brushed with the annatto-infused oil which provides the chicken with an appetizing golden color and a unique peppery flavor,” it said.
The specialty is usually enjoyed with a side dip of soy sauce, calamansi, chicken oil, and a cup (or two) of rice.
Peruvia’s Pollo a la brasa took the top spot in the list with a score of 4.7.
India’s Butter Chicken and Tikka, as well as Iran’s Jujeh kabab rounded up the top five.
