
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 17) — Olympian Cris Nievarez led the way for the Philippine team that snagged six silver and two bronze medals in the virtual 2022 Asian Rowing Indoor Championships over the weekend.
Kristine Paraon, meanwhile, bagged two silver medals in the Under-23 women’s 2000-meter and 500-meter.
Joachim De Jesus (Under-23 lightweight men’s 500-meter), Zuriel Sumintac (lightweight men’s 500-meter), and Alyssa Go (Under-23 lightweight women’s 500-meter) also finished with silver medals.
Christian Joseph Jasmin (Under-23 lightweight men’s 2000-meter), and Kharl Julianne Sha (Under-23 lightweight women’s 500-meter) settled for bronze medals.
The virtual meet was organized by the Hong Kong China Rowing Association.
The 21-year-old Nievarez, who reached the quarterfinals of the men’s single sculls of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, bagged the silver in the Under-23 men’s 2000-meter.
