Systems unaffected by global cyber outage — DICT

Metro Manila, Philippines – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said its systems are unaffected by the reported global cyber outage.

Technology company Microsoft said it is fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 applications and services.

“This outage is affecting companies globally, including those in the Philippines, that use the said cybersecurity product,” DICT said in a statement on Friday, July 19.

“We assure the public that the department does not use the same cybersecurity service provider and that no DICT systems or assets have been affected,” it added.

Some local airlines and banks, however, were not spared as they experienced system glitches following the outage.

The DICT said its Cybersecurity Bureau and the National Computer Emergency Response Team are monitoring the outage.

It said it is also coordinating with stakeholders to gather details and evaluate the impact of the outage. — D. Fernandez
