Rains (Canva)

Metro Manila, Philippines – A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon are bringing rains across the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, July 19.

Forecasters tracked one weather disturbance at 135 kilometers west southwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The other LPA is 880 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, but it has no effect as yet.

The LPA combined with the southwest monsoon are causing scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol Region, and the entire Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods and landslides.

It said the rest of Luzon will have fair weather.
