Metro Manila, Philippines – Train service for the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) and the both lines of Light Rail Transit (LRT) are suspended on April 17 to 20 (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday), train operators said.

In separate advisories, the three major train lines in Metro Manila said it will conduct maintenance work on select days during the Holy Week.

Train service will resume for all train lines on April 21, Monday.

The train lines will observe regular operations on April 14 to 16 (Holy Monday to Holy Wednesday).

In a statement, the Light Rail Manila Corp., LRT-1’s private operator, said the Holy Week is a crucial part for the annual maintenance of its trains.

“(This allows) us to perform essential upkeep and implement upgrades that will contribute to a more reliable and convenient service for our valued commuters,” said Enrico Benipayo, LRMC president in a press statement.

The LRT-2, meanwhile, advised passengers to plan their trips early.
