Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 17) — Filipino mixed martial artist Stephen “The Sniper” Loman tests his mettle against John “Hands of Stone” Lineker at ONE Fight Night 14: Stamp vs. Ham on Sept. 30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The winner of this match is expected to get the next shot at reigning ONE bantamweight world champion Fabricio Andrade.
“This is big for me after my last bout with Bibiano. This is good news because I was given an opportunity to fight before the year ends,” he said.
Loman, the second ranked bantamweight contender, overpowered former ONE bantamweight world champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes via unanimous decision at the ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs. Lee in November 2022.
Loman and Lineker will vie for the bantamweight’s top contender status and the former is motivated to get the pole position in the ONE Athlete Rankings and inch closer to his dreams of becoming a world champion.
Lineker is the current top contender and is motivated to regain the belt he lost. He knocked out Kim Jae Woong at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian earlier this month.
Loman said he believes that he’s as powerful as the man they call “Hands of Stone.”
“He (Lineker) throws strong punches and he knocks out many opponents, but I think I can also land strong punches and connect them. I’m sure I can have a knockout,” the Team Lakay fighter said.
The Loman-Lineker fight is the latest addition to an already stacked card headlined by Stamp Fairtex, who is looking to become a three-sport world champion when he challenges Ham Seo Hee for the interim ONE atomweight world championship.
Also in the fight card is Loman’s ex-teammate and two-time ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang who will battle Amir Khan. This is a rematch of their 2018 title clash.
