NTC: All unregistered SIM to be permanently deactivated by July 31

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 25) – The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Tuesday reminded the public that there will be no further extension of the SIM registration and all unregistered SIM will be permanently deactivated by July 31.

“Failure to register SIM by 11:59 p.m. of July 25 will result in the deactivation of telecommunication and mobile data services including social media access,” the NTC said in a statement.

“Access to online banking and other online financial transaction/facility shall also be deactivated,” it added.

The government previously extended the original April 26 deadline by another 90 days to gather more registrants.

The NTC said there were 105.9 million registered SIM as of July 24, representing 63% percent of the total number of reported active subscribers as of December 2022.

“Such number is well within the target of between 100 million and 110 million registered SIM come deadline,” the NTC added.

Of the 105.9 million registrations, Smart had 50 million, Globe had 48.4 million, while Dito had 7.5 million.
