Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 24) — As the country celebrates Pride Month, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday called on Filipinos to continue supporting, respecting, and recognizing the LGBTQ+ community and their importance to society.
“Mahalaga na patuloy ang pagsuporta, pagrespeto at pagkilala sa kanilang mahalagang ginagampanang bahagi sa ating lipunan: ang kanilang di matatawarang kontribusyon sa iba’t ibang larangan, nakikipagsabayan sa kaninuman; ang mga responsible at walang kapagurang tagapagtaguyod ng kanilang pamilya at tahanan,” Marcos said in his latest vlog.

The president urged Filipinos to applaud the sector for their embodiment of Filipino skill and excellence, and help end discrimination against its members.
“Sa bagong Pilipinas ang Pilipino ay malaya at sa bagong Pilipinas ang Pilipino ay malawak ang isipan at malaya sa diskriminasyon o pagkutya,” he said.

A recent survey by the Social Weather Stations found that most Filipinos see gays and lesbians as trustworthy.
