
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 19) — The Philippines is now at low-risk for COVID-19 as cases continue to drop, according to an OCTA Research fellow.
The positivity rate in the country declined to 8.6% after the Department of Health logged 726 new cases on June 18, Guido David said in his post late Sunday. He previously reported that the COVID-19 positivity rate had been dropping from 19.4 in June 2 to 18.6 percent in June 5 and 10.3% on June 17.
For Monday, David said the Philippines might post 400-500 new cases.
The rate of people testing positive for the virus also fell “in most provinces in Luzon” as of June 17, he said in a separate post on Monday.

Metro Manila and the provinces of Rizal and Bulacan saw their positivity rates drop below 10%.
Palawan and Pangasinan, however, recorded “upticks” in the number of people contracting the virus.
