
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 12) — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated 55 tons of food and medicine for families in Albay province affected by restive Mayon Volcano.
UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzaabi arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on Monday morning to deliver the humanitarian assistance.

Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, and Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista received the donation.
Nearly 13,000 residents from eight affected towns have been evacuated from the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone.
Mayon Volcano has been on Alert Level 3 since Thursday noon as it is showing signs of magmatic unrest. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the current volcanic activity is already considered an eruption.
Albay has been placed under a state of calamity following the raising of alert level for Mayon.
The Social Welfare and Health departments have also mobilized their response to the situation.
