Sibol beats Vietnam in ‘Wild Rift’ to win PH’s first esports gold in 32nd SEA Games

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 7) – Sibol has won the Philippines’ first esports gold medal by beating Vietnam in the League of Legends: Wild Rift event of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Sunday.

The country’s national esports team outplayed Vietnam, 3-1, in the best-of-five series of the popular mobile game.

Sibol’s victory was also the country’s 14th gold medal so far in this year’s biennial meet.

Sibol first won gold in the 2019 SEA Games in Manila when it routed Indonesia, 3-1, in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

The team repeated their dominant performance against Indonesia in the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam, which netted them the gold.
