Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 2) — Another batch of repatriated Filipinos from war-torn Sudan is expected to arrive in the country on Thursday, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced on Tuesday.
In a statement, the DMW said the two groups, composed of 80 and 72 evacuees, will be taking Saudia Airlines commercial flights on Wednesday.
It said the repatriates are among 340 Filipinos who fled from the Sudan Port into the Argeen Land Port Authority in Aswan, Egypt last April 29.

“For this week, we will have 152 arriving on May 4 from Egypt and another bigger batch of OFWs from Sudan coming home hopefully via a chartered PAL (Philippine Airlines) flight,” DMW Secretary Susan Ople said.
“OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) and the DMW are committed to bring as many of our kababayans home, so that the process of healing from the trauma of Sudan’s civil war can commence,” she added.
On Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said 17 Filipino evacuees have landed in Manila in two batches.

According to the DMW, the two commercial flights will be traveling to Manila from Jeddah and Riyadh.
OWWA chief Arnell Ignacio will be joining one of the groups on the flight home.
The DMW is currently negotiating with PAL for a chartered flight to bring the remaining 188 Filipinos from the group in Sudan.
Ople said the agency has a partnership with Egyptair that would enable it to come up with flight arrangements from Cairo to Dubai and onward to Manila.
