Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 16) – Filipino wrestler Alvin Lobreguito delivered the Philippines’ 52nd gold at the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, matching the country’s gold medal count last year.
Lobreguito dominated the men’s freestyle 57kg category, outlasting representatives from Vietnam and Thailand, who got silver and bronze medals, respectively.
The 31-year-old wrestler previously cliched a silver medal in the 2019 SEA Games.
This was the country’s third gold medal in wrestling after Jason Balabal’s win in the men’s Greco Roman 87kg and Maria Christina Vergara’s in the women’s freestyle 65kg.
