Elreen Ando breaks 3 records, wins weightlifting gold at 32nd SEA Games

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) – Cebuano weightlifter Elreen Ando took home a gold medal for the Philippines while breaking three different records at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

The 24-year-old dominated the women’s 59 kilogram division by lifting a total of 216 kgs, a new record total.

She also set new SEA Games records in two lifts: the clean and jerk by lifting 118 kgs, and the snatch for hitting 98 kgs.

Ando, who placed seventh overall in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics -64kg weightlifting event, took home silver medals in the 2019 SEA Games in Manila and the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam.

Her win marked her first SEA Games gold and the 38th overall for the Philippines.
