PH taekwondo jins bag three gold medals at 32nd SEA Games

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 13) — Filipino taekwondo jins Kurt Barbosa, Arven Alcantara, and Samuel Morrison on Saturday earned three more gold medals for the Philippines at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The three competed and won in kyorugi or sparring.

Barbosa, a four-time gold medalist, bested his Thai foe in the 54 kilogram weight class, while Alcantara also defeated a Thai fighter in the 68 kg weight class.

Morrison, also a four-time gold medalist, outstruck an Indonesian fighter in the 87 kg division.

Their wins pushed the Philippines’ gold medals to 35.

The night before, Jocelyn Ninobla, Aidane Laxa, and Nicole Labayne took the gold in the women’s poomsae event, while Patrick King Perez won the gold medal in the men’s individual poomsae.
