Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 7) – A low pressure area (LPA) east of southern Mindanao is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Easter Sunday, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA formed on Thursday.
As of 3 a.m. on April 7, it was reported to be 1,620 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, outside the PAR, and that it was unlikely to develop into a typhoon in the next two days.
PAGASA said it was slowly moving toward the Caraga region in Mindanao.
The weather bureau forecast two possibilities as to the LPA’s movement in the next week:
First, it said the LPA could approach Eastern Visayas and the Bicol region by Tuesday, cross Central and Northern Luzon by Thursday, and eventually reach the West Philippine Sea on Friday.
Otherwise, it said the LPA could approach Eastern Visayas where it would remain from Tuesday to Thursday before moving farther east, away from the PAR.
