Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 17) — The five-year wait is finally over for fans after Korean actor Lee Jong-suk finally returned to the Philippines to again meet his Filipino Sukkies, his fandom name, during the weekend.
Organized by fashion magazine L’Officiel Philippines, the fan meeting held on Sunday at the PICC was filled with a lot of surprises, especially from Lee himself, and romantic thrill for his fans.
The event was opened by P-pop group BGYO with their song “Be Us.”
Following an introduction by actress Denise Laurel, Lee was welcomed by loud cheers from fans.
During one of the segments, the actor was asked several questions, including what he looks forward to the most at the fan meeting.
Speaking in Korean, Lee said he was excited to finally meet his Filipino Sukkies again after a long while. Lee last held his fan meeting in the Philippines in 2018.
He was also asked how he would define “Lee Jong-suk.” Echoing his fans’ response of “gwapo” (handsome), the actor said “I am gwapo.”
Questions from three lucky fans were also picked. But they did not only get to personally ask the actor on stage, he did not hesitate to also give them hugs, selfies, and surprise gifts.
Making a special appearance during the fan meeting was Lee’s friend, rising Korean actor Shin Jae-ha.
The two were together in K-dramas “Pinocchio” and “While You Were Sleeping.”
As a special treat to fans, both actors danced to BTS’ “Dynamite” and NewJeans’ “Hybe Boy.”
They also played a game and re-enacted some iconic scenes from Lee’s dramas “I Can Hear Your Voice” and “Romance is a Bonus Book.”
The night ended with a video gifted by fans to the actor and a song from Lee.
In his parting message, Lee thanked his fans and promised to return to the country for his Filipino Sukkies.
