Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) The second run of Manila Bulletin’s “Sustainability Forum” aims to strike a broader conversation of sustainability to the youth.

This year, Manila Bulletin is partnering with the University of the Philippines (UP) to provide a platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions on sustainability and inspire them to become agents of positive change towards a more sustainable future.

Speaking to CNN Philippines’ New Day, the forum’s project lead Philip Cu-Unjieng also said they want to bring sustainability awareness to common folks who are greatly affected by climate change.

“We are taking small steps. One of the major stumbling blocks in terms of trickling down the consciousness about sustainability is that it is still being couched in a conversation that is primarily in English,” he said.

Under the theme “If not now, when? Addressing the Urgency to go Sustainable,” the forum’s main topics are:

– Making clean energy more accessible and affordable (SDG 7)

– Encouraging innovation in industry and infrastructure (SDG 9)

– Creating sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11)

– Fostering responsible production and consumption (SDG 12)

These categories were lifted from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at eradicating poverty by 2030.

The 2-day forum is set for Nov. 21 and 22 at the UP College of Statistics Auditorium in Diliman Campus.

There will be four sessions throughout the two-day forum. Each session features government representatives, CEOs and sustainability heads of various companies who are leading their companies in a more sustainable future.

Cu-Unjieng said Environment Secretary Tony Loyzaga and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte are some of the keynote speakers.

UP and other students from Metro Manila colleges and universities are also invited to join the forum.
