7 reported dead due to Mindanao quake – NDRRMC

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 18) — At least seven were reported dead, two were injured, and two are missing due to the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that struck off Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Friday, disaster response officials said on Saturday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRMMC) is still verifying the casualties, but said three deaths were logged in General Santos; two in Glan, Sarangani; and one each in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental and Malapatan, Sarangani.

The two injured were recorded in Glan, Sarangani while the two missing persons were reported in General Santos.

The NDRMMC said 450 people from the Davao Region and Soccsksargen were given medical care due to hyperventilation and panic.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said 61 aftershocks have been logged as of 11 a.m., but only 3 were felt.
