Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 13) – Kidnapping and serious illegal detention complaints were filed against four suspects in the disappearance of Batangas beauty queen Catherine Camilon, the Philippine National Police said Monday.
Col. Jean Fajardo, the PNP’s spokesperson, identified the suspects as Major Allan de Castro of the CALABARZON Police Regional Office, a civilian identified as Jeffrey Ariola Magpantay, and two John Does.
“Nakapag-refer na sila (Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) ng kasong violation, particularly kidnapping and serious illegal detention, diyan sa Batangas Provincial Prosecutor Office,” Fajardo told reporters.
[Translation: The CIDG referred the case, particularly kidnapping and serious illegal detention, to the Batangas Provincial Prosecutor Office.]
Prior to her disappearance, Camilon told her friend that she will meet with De Castro, Fajardo added.
Magpantay, meanwhile, was identified by two witnesses as the one who transferred a bloodied woman from a Nissan Juke vehicle to a red Honda CR-V.
“‘Yun pong [The] assisting prosecutor will have at least 10 days to evaluate whether these cases referred by the CIDG will reach the stage of preliminary investigation,” Fajardo said.
Meanwhile, authorities were able to retrieve hair strands and potential blood samples in the CR-V that may be used in the investigation.
“Lahat po ito dadaan ngayon sa proseso ng forensic group at nakipag-ugnayan na rin po ang CIDG 4A sa pamilya para makakuha po ng mga DNA samples po nila para ma-i-compare po ito du’n sa mga forensic evidence du’n sa na-recover po na CR-V” Fajardo said.
[Translation: Everything will go through the process of the forensic group and the CIDG 4A is also coordinating with Catherine’s family to get DNA samples and compare to the forensic evidence recovered in the CR-V.]
Camilon was reported missing on October 12.
