Misamis Occidental raises ₱9.5-M reward to solve 2 cases

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (CNN Philippines, November 10) — Misamis Occidental Gov. Henry Oaminal Sr. on Friday announced bounties totaling ₱9.5 million to help solve two recent cases in his province.

The reward raised is in pursuit of justice in the maintenance of peace and order in the province of Misamis Occidental as they take a stand against crimes, Oaminal said in a social media post.

It will be given to those “who come forward with vital information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects” in the cases.

These include the ₱500,000 reward for the murder of broadcaster Juan “Johnny Walker” Jumalon, which happened on Nov. 5, to be given to any individual who can provide information leading to the arrest of the gunman.

An additional reward of ₱3,000,000 will be given to any law enforcer who can arrest Jumalon’s killer.

Oaminal said authorities have also raised a reward of ₱1,000,000 for any individual who can provide information on those who attempted to murder him with an improvised explosive device.

Oaminal managed to escape death from a bomb attack while en route to Ozamiz City on a highway in Clarin town in October.

A ₱5,000,000 reward will be given to the law enforcer who can lead to the arrest of the criminals.

Lawless elements “have no place in our society,” Oaminal stressed.
