
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 4) — A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook Dalupiri Island in Cagayan before noon Wednesday, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) downgraded the size of quake from magnitude 6.2, as its earlier advisory stated.
It said the tremor struck at 11:35 a.m.
The following earthquake intensities were recorded in these areas:
Intensity 5 (strong) – Calayan, Cagayan
Intensity 4 (moderately strong) – Lacub, Abra; Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Burgos, Carasi, Dumalneg, City of Laoag, Pagudpud, Pasuquin, San Nicolas, and Sarrat in Ilocos Norte; Peñablanca, Piat, Santo Niño, Solana, and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan
Intensity 3 (weak vibrations) – Licuan-Baay in Abra; Balbalan, Lubuagan, and Pasil in Kalinga; City of Batac, Currimao, Marcos, Paoay, and Pinili in Ilocos Norte
Intensity 2 (slightly felt vibrations) – Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte; Basco, Batanes; Angadanan, Cabagan, Maconacon, San Mariano, and San Pablo in Isabela
Intensity 1 (weak) – Delfin Albano, Isabela
While Phivolcs does not foresee any damage from the quake, it warned that aftershocks are expected.
