Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 23) – The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Monday said it is aiming to transfer all transactions to its computer system by November.
LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza referred to the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), which currently offers renewals of vehicle registration and driver’s license, and application of license for new drivers.
Mendoza made the statement after receiving a report that LTO employees do not want to use the new system, denying the allegation.
“What is true is that by next month, ang target namin ay full usage na tayo ng ating bagong computer system na binayaran ng ating gobyerno,” he told reporters.
[Translation: What is true is that by next month, our target is the full usage of our new computer system that our government paid for.]
He added that LTO created a technical working group to address the remaining concerns in the LTMS, which include accrediting online payment platforms.
Mendoza also said the full implementation of the LTMS will allow motorists to register their cars. It wll also fast track other transactions, which will prevent motorists from engaging in fixers.
