Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 14) — Agham and BIR roads in Quezon City will now be known as “Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago Avenue.”
Republic Act (RA) No. 11963 – naming the two roads after the late senator – lapsed into law on Thursday, Oct. 12.
Malacañang said the new law takes effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette, or in a newspaper of general circulation.
The Department of Public Works and Highways will issue proper documents to implement the RA within 60 days from its effectivity, it added.
A bill lapses into law if the president does not sign or veto it 30 days after receiving it from Congress.
The former senator lived in Quezon City for a long time before she died due to lung cancer in 2016.
